Apple Sauce

It’s that time of year….all the yummy tastes of fall! Apples, Pumpkin, and Cinnamon are a few of my favourites. I know it’s been a busy week getting the kiddos ready for back to school, new schedules, and at my house hockey most nights.
I thought I’d give you a simple recipe to help with school lunches. It was the first thing my kids asked for, Homemade Apple Sauce! It’s seriously is so easy, and best yet you can control the sugar content. If you are looking for something to do this week end, head out to your local apple orchard or farmer’s market and pick up some yummy, local grown apples.
This is how you do it.

Needed:
-1 Slow Cooker
-10-15 large apples
-2 tsp. of maple syrup or coconut sugar
-2 tsp. of cinnamon (or to taste)

Simply peel and slice your apples. (We love McIntosh)
Sprinkle the cinnamon and maple syrup over your apples.
Put the slow cooker on low and let it do its magic! Stir occasionally to prevent apples from sticking to the side. This is a great thing to make on Sunday afternoon, kids love helping, and your house will smell heavenly all afternoon! (Makes approx. 3 cups) You can put this into smaller containers for the week for easy lunch snacks!
