Why You Should Ditch Store-Bought Hamburger Helper
Hamburger Helper may be a convenient meal, but it’s not the healthiest choice for you and your family. Here’s why:
- High in Sodium – Many boxed meals, including Hamburger Helper, contain excessive amounts of sodium, which can contribute to high blood pressure and other health issues.
- Artificial Ingredients – Processed foods often include preservatives, artificial flavours, and additives that don’t support your overall health.
- Low in Nutrients – While it may be filling, the nutritional value of boxed Hamburger Helper is lacking compared to homemade versions packed with fresh ingredients.
- Refined Carbs – Most packaged pasta products contain refined grains that don’t offer much in terms of fibre or nutrients.
Why This Recipe Is Better
- More Protein – Using chickpea pasta boosts the protein content, making this a more balanced meal.
- Lower in Sodium – You control the salt content by using fresh ingredients.
- No Artificial Ingredients – A healthier meal without preservatives and unnecessary additives.
- Better Flavour – Fresh ingredients give you a more delicious, rich, and homemade taste.
- Added Mushrooms – Provides extra nutrients, fibre, and a rich umami flavour to enhance the dish.
Instead of relying on a store-bought mix, try this homemade version using fresh ingredients, Greek yogurt and chickpea pasta, which adds extra protein!
