December 23, 2014 by Rachel

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! We want you all to be careful, safe and healthy this holiday season. Below you will find some non-alcoholic drink alternatives if you feel like something a little different!

Option 1 RASPBERRY “BEETINI”

Fresh beet juice and tart raspberries give this energizing smoothie not only a beautiful violet-red colour, but also high levels of anti-carcinogens and carotenoid content, making this the perfect addition to any party menu.

Ingredients:

1 cup beet juice

½ cup water

1 cup frozen raspberries

½ apple, with peel

1 tsp flax oil (optional)

Wedge of fresh lemon

Directions:

1. Place first four ingredients in a high speed blender and puree until smooth.

2. Remove from blender and stir in a squirt of lemon and flax oil, as a nutritious blood sugar-balancing addition.

Option 2 Water? Yes Water!

Infused Waters, you can put these in mason jars and let them infuse overnight or you can place them in a large pitcher. You have to play around with how much flavour you want and these suggestions are for large pitchers of water, so around 4 cups of water.

1. Mint, lemon and cucumber
10 Sprigs Mint
2 lemons slices
10 cucumber slices

2. Rosemary and Grapefruit
4 sprigs of Rosemary
1 full Grapefruit sliced

3. Strawberry and Lime
10 cut up strawberries
2 limes

Try out your favourite fruit and herbs to make something you love.

Option 3 Kombucha

This is fermented tea product it aids in digestion and is great for after a big meal! Benefits include
Enhanced digestion and support to you immune system. You can find Kombucha in a local health food store, some kinds we love are RISE Mint Chlorophyll and RISE Rose Schizandra but there are many other kinds.
